Recently Komodo islands have been nominated as one of the world nature wonders, i don’t know the result about that, but definitely Komodo Islands are gonna take your breathe out. Where is Komodo island? Settled at the east of Indonesia, Komodo islands can be reached from Labuan Bajo, a small city in the Flores. Many airlines offer flights to Labuan Bajo from Denpasar, Garuda Indonesia, Trans Nusa, and Wings Air. Many accomodation available here, from budget to luxury. It is easy to find tour to see the dragon.
As
the last of dragon alive, Komodo are spread in Komodo Archipelago, estimated 5.000
still surviving in the wild. We took a chance to look for the dragon at Rinca
Island, our boat parked at Loh Buaya (crocodile bay), and we have to complete
the registration in the National Park Office, it’s easy. This national park is
well managed, good information, clean and tidy office, good representative, and
multilingual guide are available. There is an option to do some trekking to
look for some dragon, short, medium, and long. Long trek gives you more opportunity to see the dragon
in the wild. We do medium, well we see
the dragon during the first 10 minutes trek, under the National Park kitchen
(what? yeah some lazy komodo just wait for leftover food). However the trekking
was really good, the scenery is superb, bring your hat because the sun aren’t
friendly, bring your camera because you won’t see anything like this anywhere
else, bring your mineral water, and bring your trash bag, because we want the
national park stay the same for thousand of years more.
Spend
3 hours for the trek, you will wonder when you will be coming back again in
years.
*picture will be updated soon..
